Connor Trinneer Cast In ‘Stargate Origins’ – Returning To Franchise As Different Character
Star Trek: Enterprise alum Connor Trinneer is set to return to Stargate in the new digital series, Stargate Origins. Today MGM announced the the full cast for the series, including Trinneer. Origins is a prequel to Stargate SG-1 and the first entry in the franchise since Stargate Universe ended six years ago.
Trinneer will be playing Professor Paul Langford, the archeologist who discovered the Stargate in Egypt in 1929. Origins will focus on Langford’s daughter Catherine, who will be played by Australian actress Ellie Gall. According to MGM, Origins will follow young Catherine as she “embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from unimaginable darkness.”
This will be a return to the franchise for Trinneer, 11 years after he first appeared in a recurring role as Michael Kenmore (also known as the Wraith”Lastlight”) in Season 2 of Stargate: Atlantis. Trineer appeared for a total of 10 episodes, running through the fifth and final season in 2008. The Stargate: Atlantis role came soon after Trinneer wrapped up four seasons as Commander Charles ‘Trip’ Tucker III in Star Trek Enterprise.
Production has just begun on the new show. Stargate Origins will debut on MGM’s new digital platform Stargate Command. The first season will consist of ten episodes, with each about ten minutes long. A teaser for the show was released at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer.
